Renovation dust is not ordinary dust. Drywall dust stays airborne for hours, settles into every surface, seam and fabric, and returns twice more after the first clean. This is a specialist multi-pass service using HEPA filtration, with the right products for paint flecks, adhesive residue, grout haze and joint-compound film — scheduled inside whatever hours your board permits, and worked carefully where new construction meets century-old detail.

Renovating in a Forest Hills or Rego Park co-op happens entirely inside the board's rules, and they shape the clean as much as the dust does. Work is typically restricted to weekday hours, every contractor needs a certificate of insurance, the service elevator has to be reserved and padded, and you are generally held responsible for the condition of shared hallways and the elevator lobby. That last point catches people out: drywall dust travels the length of a corridor over a multi-week job, and a board that finds the hallway carpet dulled afterwards will raise it. The method is what makes it hold. A renovation in one of those houses almost always puts brand-new surfaces directly against irreplaceable old ones — new sealed grout beside original hexagonal tile, new cabinetry meeting 1870s pine at a doorway, fresh paint against oak paneling, and construction dust settled into leaded glazing and carved moldings. Dust in a molding profile must be brush-vacuumed out before anything is wiped, because wiping packs it deeper into the detail.
